Every day, countless kittens sit quietly in cold, lonely cages, their tiny faces filled with hope and sadness. Among them was a little one named Chip. He was weak, filthy, and suffering from a painful eye infection. At just a few weeks old, Chip had already been abandoned and left to fend for himself.
When Nadija, an experienced animal rescuer and foster mom, saw Chip at the county shelter, her heart shattered. Although she was already caring for other fosters, she couldn’t forget the image of that scared, struggling kitten. For over a week, no one showed interest in adopting him. That’s when Nadija made a life-changing decision.
Rescue Begins with a Soft Bed and Warm Blanket
Nadija returned to the shelter and brought Chip home, determined to give him the love and care he so desperately needed. Right after his eye surgery, she prepared a cozy spot with soft blankets where he could finally rest. Although he was still small and had flea dirt on his fur, Chip curled up and slept deeply, feeling safe for the first time in his life.
In those first few days, Nadija focused on helping Chip heal. She cleaned his wounds, administered medications, and spent countless hours by his side. As Chip continued to heal, Nadija introduced him to two other foster kittens, Milo and Alfie. To her delight, Chip instantly connected with them. Despite being the smallest of the trio, he was the most enthusiastic during playtime. His energy and curiosity brought joy to everyone around.
