As the woman approached, she noticed two more pairs of sad, pleading eyes beside the mother. The pit bull had been abandoned with her puppies, left on the streets like trash, desperately needing help.

Without hesitation, the woman reached out to Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California. Known for her dedication and compassion, Suzette has rescued countless dogs—and she didn’t think twice about saving this tiny family.
When Suzette arrived, she expected a chase. But the pit bull—later named Starling—surprised her. Instead of running away, Starling rushed into Suzette’s arms, trusting her instantly. Her two puppies, Swift and Chickadee, followed close behind, as if they too sensed they were finally safe.
Finally Safe in Loving Arms
Despite everything she had endured, Starling melted into her rescuer’s embrace. Years of fear and exhaustion gave way to hope. Suzette later shared, “She is exhausted. She has had a hard job after being thrown out like trash with her two babies.”
All three dogs were taken in, given food, warmth, and medical care. After their hospital visit, they were welcomed into a foster home where they quickly adjusted and showed their loving nature.

Starling and her babies thrived in foster care. Their gentle personalities emerged, and they blossomed into sweet, affectionate pets. “Starling is one of a kind. She is gentle, so incredibly loving, will kiss you to pieces,” Suzette wrote. Despite her pictures, Starling was much smaller than she appeared and got along wonderfully with both dogs and cats.
With time and patience, Swift and Chickadee were adopted into loving homes. But Starling waited a little longer for her forever family.
A Dream Come True for Starling
In September 2022, Starling’s dream finally came true. A kind couple, already parents to a dog named Ruby, met her and instantly fell in love. The connection was immediate—it was clear Starling was meant to be part of their family.
Renamed Summer, the once-abandoned pit bull now enjoys a life full of adventures. She goes to the beach, joins family road trips, attends concerts, and enjoys outdoor dinners with her new best friend, Ruby.
