Sky, a ten-year-old dog, had spent her entire life with one family. She offered them her loyalty, joy, and unconditional love. Sky was extremely malnourished, weighing only thirty pounds. Blind in one eye and suffering from overgrown nails and untreated allergies, she was clearly a victim of prolonged neglect.
The rescue suspected that Sky had been kept outside in a backyard, used for breeding, and left to fend for herself. “With her allergies, overgrown nails, and being extremely skinny, it’s clear she spent her days neglected in a backyard,” said a spokesperson from the shelter. “Most likely used for breeding and then tossed aside, Sky deserves so much more.”
Despite her initial fear and hesitation, Sky quickly revealed her sweet nature. The staff gently bathed her and provided nourishing food. She slowly began to trust them, inching closer until she finally laid her head in one caregiver’s lap. That moment marked the start of her emotional healing.
Embracing a Second Chance at Life
